Congratulations to the Tiger Band!! They competed in the UIL Region 4 Marching Contest and received a 1st Division rating from all three judges. We are proud of these students as well as their directors, Spike Buie and Bradley Lindsey, as well as color guard instructor Kaya Williams. Way to Go Tigers!!
Daingerfield High School is starting a new program this year for the purpose of recognition for students and teachers that exhibit excellence. These recognitions are a Student of the Month and a Teacher of the Month that will be selected each month by the teaching faculty of DHS.
The Student of the Month for September is Jessie Biles. Jessie is a senior this year and his parents are Jessie Biles Sr. and Frankie Biles. The oldest of three, Jessie is a native of Greenwood, Mississippi and intends on attending Mississippi State University when he graduates where he will pursue a law degree. Jessie’s goal is not to just become a lawyer, but become a Great lawyer.
The Teacher of the Month for September is Elisa Henninger. Mrs. Henninger, surrounded by some of her students in the picture above, has been with Daingerfield High School for three years where she teaches Spanish. She is married to Scott Henninger and has a nine year old son, Aiden Henninger. A resident of Omaha, Texas she has been in the education system for over 20 years, and has taught elementary, high school, and has been an administrator for both an Early Childhood Campus and an Elementary School. She has an Interdisciplinary Studies Bachelors degree with Spanish/English major and is certified all level ESL and Bilingual, and a Masters degree in Mid-Management. She has also served as a college instructor and as the director of Upward Bound for over six years.
Her hobbies are reading, gardening, traveling, and anything outdoors, but she detests water sports. She is competitive, almost to a fault, and her advocacy for education is unrelenting.
Congratulations to Jessie Biles and Elisa Henninger.
