Congratulations to the Varsity Volleyball team for advancing to the playoffs!!  They will play New Boston Monday, November 3rd, at 7:00pm in Mt. Pleasant.

Congratulations to the Tiger Band!!  They competed in the UIL Region 4 Marching Contest and received a 1st Division rating from all three judges.  We are proud of these students as well as their directors, Spike Buie and Bradley Lindsey, as well as color guard instructor Kaya Williams.  Way to Go Tigers!!

Teacher of the Month

Ricky Smith

Born in 1950, number 8 of 9 children, Ricky Smith began his educational journey at the Spring Hill School of Southwest Arkansas# He graduated in the top 10, but doesn’t often like to mention that there were only 10 students in his class# He completed his journey at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia# In 1973 he made what he calls, “my best decision” when he married Linda# They enjoy the company of their 3 children and 7 grandchildren#

 

After teaching mathematics in Arkansas for 32 years, Ricky retired and moved to Texas# He taught at Grapevine for 2 years before he finally arrived at DHS in 2007, and he currently teachers Pre-Cal, Statistics, and Calculus# “I have 43 years with which to compare, and I believe I now teach the best students I have ever taught# DHS has been a wonderful place to teach#”

Cross’Avessio Aya’Tollah Khommanich To. Allen, Cross to his many friends, is a junior at DHS and is currently ranked third in his class. He is involved in BPA, FFA where he serves as the Chapter Reporter, Student Council, and is a member of the 2014 State Champion Math Team. Cross’s mathematic accolades include placing 3rd in Calculator at TMSCA State Competition in San Antonio, Texas during his freshman year; and 1st at the same competition his sophomore year.

Mrs# Teddleton, our NTCC representative, will be on campus on Mondays starting Sept# 15#  She will be in the library and can help students with college testing, college applications and ACT/SAT registration
